A Celebration of Life:Yvonne Waithe

Yvonne Waithe was a strong, outgoing, spontaneous and loving 72 year old mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She had a smile that could light up a room; she was the most kind, gentle, and non-judgmental woman you could ever meet. She was full of love and highly respected among the community.
Unfortunately, Yvonne passed on 2/25/2018 due to sudden complications after surgery. As we began making plans for her Celebration of Life, a conversation with her life insurance company revealed that her coverage had lapsed due to non-payment on 2/21/18 while she was hospitalized. The family explained that she did not pay due to her hospitalization and offered to provide medical documentation and pay the full balance due. To our dismay, we were told that because the payment was not received, her benefit for life insurance would be assessed as $0.
When asked if there was some other way to fix this given the circumstances we were told to fax a letter requesting a review to assess her eligibility . We were not provided any timeline for how long this might take or any clarification for how this process works. We have since faxed the necessary request and will continue to follow up until we get answers.
In the meantime, we are left to cover the complete cost of Yvonne’s Celebration of Life and are asking for your help and financial support in this process. We are looking to raise $10,000 to help our family with funeral costs and fee’s. Anything you can contribute will help tremendously. If you can not contribute funds, you can still help us in meeting our goal by sharing our page.
