car repairs

I had an accident back in August and had to get a new car. I bought an old Ford Escape that would be good in the winter up here. After getting it road ready and checked out, the shackle on the back right wheel snapped off the body of the car this week. My mechanic said it would be "extremely dangerous" for me to drive this, but I don't have much of a choice. I have to get this repaired quickly. I only drive to and from work. I'm starting a 2nd job soon as well, but I just can't afford anything after everything I already spent to just get this car in working order. 

I hate to do this. I've never done this. I just don't have much of a choice at this point. If you can help me at all I would appreciate it more than you know.
