Help Denise Fight Cancer!!

While visiting her mother in Portland over the 4th of July weekend, Denise felt pain in her right breast. When she went to examine it, she felt a lump. After arriving home, she immediately sought an appointment with her primary care doctor. A mammogram/sonogram was scheduled. During the radiologist’s review, he indicated it was definitely cancer and it had spread to the lymph nodes. The following day the radiologist performed a biopsy. 2 weeks later it was confirmed Denise has HER2-Breast Cancer.  Denise has since gone through a multitude of other tests including an MRI, CT scan, heart sonogram, and various blood tests. It was determined it has not spread to her organs and she has a fighting chance!!

Because of the type of cancer, the fact that it has spread and disorganized, the course of treatment began with chemotherapy. The protocol is chemo every 3 weeks for a total of 6 sessions. The next step will be a mastectomy. Following will be radiation and another year of chemo at three week intervals . Denise is unsure of the timing or possibility of reconstruction surgery.

Funds will be helpful to Denise at any time and ongoing throughout her fight!!

 Medical bills are already mounting with more to come. Since Denise has only had 1 chemo so far, it is difficult to determine how much the treatment will affect her ability to work.  Denise loves her work and plans to work as long and as hard as she can.  Since she lives alone and self-supporting, this is also necessary . With the ever rising cost of living in Monterey County, it is, however, difficult for Denise to make ends meet as it is.

-Gap in pay during days she can’t work
-Medical bills
-Treatment is 40 miles away-gas and car expenses.

Denise is trying to keep a positive attitude, but there is no doubt this will be a long and very expensive road. She is trying not to get into fear and stay in faith. 

Please help Denise fight cancer and not stress about the fact that she is now struggling financially. Her rent increased August 1st and she doesn't  want to be forced to move from her place of 7 ½ years. She already is living in a small1 bedroom which is her sanctuary by the ocean.
