EMPOWER RECOVERY: Support the Shameless Sexuality Conference

Purity Culture robs people of accurate sex education and condemns them for curiosity and pleasure. My clients know this first hand, whether they accidentally became pregnant due to misinformation or are crippled by self-loathing over healthy sexual desires.

With Project2025 already underway, reproductive sovereignty and accurate sexual health information will become even harder to access. To help combat this emergency, I'm hosting the first ever IN-PERSON Shameless Sexuality: Life After Purity Culture Conference to empower recovery for survivors of Purity Culture indoctrination.

WHO AM I?

Janice Selbie, Registered Professional Counsellor and coach specializing in Religious Trauma and Purity Culture recovery. I am the founder and host of both the Conference on Religious Trauma (CORT) and the Shameless Sexuality: Life After Purity Culture Conference. I have posted prior conference sessions and additional resources on my YouTube channel to be available for every mental health worker and survivor of religious trauma.

Hosting this year's Shameless Sexuality event in person is a big financial gamble for me - but it is one that I think necessary in the face of increasing sexual repression in the USA.

Here is the financial breakdown of this event, which I am currently funding out of my own pocket:

ANTICIPATED TOTAL EXPENSE $27,762.30

Cost breakdown (not including taxes or advertising)

• Hotel room minimum commitment (28 rooms per night, 5/23/25 and 5/24/25=56) @$229 = $12,824 plus tax

• Hotel catering minimum $4,000

• Hotel AV costs $888.30

• 50 Event Management hours @$50 = $2500

• Event Management onsite expenses = $2,950

• Speaker Fees, honoraria, and air travel (accommodation in hotel room commitment above) $4,600

Survivors of religious trauma often suffer additional trauma by getting stuck in a cycle of poverty. As with all of my events, I also want to provide tickets for those who cannot afford, but greatly need, to attend.

My conference will provide accurate information and education for those recovering from the stigma and shame of toxic Purity Culture indoctrination. This event is for all genders, orientations, and identities who are 18+.
