Help Send Robert to the Middle East

Hello everyone my name is Robert Jackson, I'm a UCLA transfer student from South Central Los Angeles, California. It was a long journey getting to UCLA, a lot of sweat and tears but they were all worth it because my experience at UCLA so far has been unforgettable. I have learned so much and sparked interests I didn't even realize I had. I am greateful to have been offered many opportunities during my first year at UCLA and with the help of many will soon embark on a trip of a lifetime to the Middle East with the Olive Tree Initiative (OTI). OTI is an education-based group that works towards understanding the Israel-Palestine conflict through experiential education. I have luckily been presented with the opportunity of participating on the Summer 2015 trip to the Middle East. I am excited to learn and experience the differences in cultural and political beliefs. Furthermore I can't wait to be on the ground and get hands on experience as to the issues that drive the current conflict because it is my belief that the best way to understand a conflict is through an understanding of both sides.  I believe the only way for me to truly learn the root of the issue is to be exposed to local people who live and breathe the conflict on a daily basis but also talk to officials who can create change. With this great excitement also comes a lot of stress as to how I will be able to afford the trip. The cost to travel abroad is expensive and I do not have the funds to make this happen on my own.
