Ysabelle's Study Abroad - Galapagos

My name is Ysabelle Yrad and I am a sophomore at the University of Toledo studying biology! I am an active student in the Jesup Scott Honors College - I currently sit as a chair member for the Hall Council of an Honors Residence Hall, hold an executive position in an organization called Building Ohio's Sustainable Energy Future, and participate in other honors activities on campus.
This school year, I wish to attend a study abroad trip to the Islands of the Galapagos in South America with the Jesup Scott Honors College! There, I will be hiking and touring three of the islands during spring break of 2018 from March 2-11. This is an exciting opportunity for my field of study to be able to learn the biodiversity that makes these islands unique and understand the conservation efforts taking place. Although the trip is just during my spring break, I will be required to take pre & post-trip classes as well as receive honors credits toward my degree and provide a dissertation about my experience.
The money I raise will be for all of the expenses of the trip besides air fare - the cost is not calculated until closer to the travel time and I can alleviate this cost through a grant I can apply to from the University.
Expenses include the food, housing, classes, boat and tour excursions, and any other costs related to the trip. I hope to raise enough funds before the end 2017!
Some of you may know I was planning a different study abraod trip next year to Salford, England. I have chosen this trip instead because it is through the honors college, is a much shorter trip, and is less costly.
As an honors student, I have always been grateful for the opportunities I have received to get more out of learning and school. I would be greatly apprecative to any help I obtain in fundraising for my first study abroad! To be able to say I visited and studied the Islands of the Galapagos as a biology major is very impressive and I am so excited to be able to go!
