If you know Claudia Monaco, then you are aware that she is the kind of person who goes above and beyond for everyone who is lucky enough to be a part of her life. Our friend gives so much to everybody else, whether it is with a supportive word, an act of kindness, or an offer of help. Now is a time when we can show Claudia how much she means to all of us by giving back to her in the same way that we know she would give to us.
Claudia is a beloved kindergarten teacher, mother of three, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend to all. After a diagnosis this spring of Thymic Carcinoma, a very rare cancer, Claudia began the fight of her life! Throughout the procedures, chemotherapy, and the constant waiting game she has had to play as she awaited test results, she has faced each step and each phase of her treatment with great strength. Even during some of her toughest days, she has remained upbeat for herself and those closest to her because of her incredible depth of character and religious faith.
As you can imagine, fighting such a diagnosis can take its toll on a young family.
The Monaco family has been so grateful for the generosity of the New Canaan school communities throughout this difficult time and have loved receiving all of the notes, well wishes, prayers, helping hands and more. However, the offers of help from the entire New Canaan community have been resounding. We want to be sure that finances are the least of the Monaco family’s worries, so at this time, we have decided to set up this fund. Our hope is that Claudia and her family will be able to focus on getting her the best care and assistance. We are asking for donations for Claudia’s medical and other expenses incurred during this time. While we know that money is an important piece of this, what we know means the most to Claudia and her family is your continued thoughts and prayers. She is a friend to so many of us and touches us with her warmth, her humor, and her positivity. So above all else, we hope that you treat every day as a gift.
