On October 12th, Ashley was a victim of domestic violence. Her ex-boyfriend broke into her apartment and shot her in the chest, barely missing her heart.
Ashley is currently suffering from extensive injuries. Upon arriving at the hospital, she was rushed into emergency surgery. Her diaphragm, liver, stomach and pancreas were all damaged and salvaged. Her kidney however was unrepairable and had to be removed. The bullet ended up shattering parts of her spine that controls the muscles to her legs. There is a slim chance that she will be able to walk again.
Ashley is still in the hospital, and learning how to swallow and even sit up. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her.
Ashley worked at Great Clips as a store manager. I’ve always known that my sister was such a caring person, but I had no idea how many people's lives she has touched. Many people have messaged me and visited Ashley at the hospital, all sharing stories of how she has helped them during difficult times.
