Youth Peacebuilders in Uganda

When we think of the African continent we usually think of humanitarian aid. This perspective completely ignores the psychological dimension of the population after a conflict setting. Youth that has experienced conflict and are not treated in any ways tend to be less employable, they involve themselves more in criminal activities and prevent development.
Northern Uganda has been severely affected by internal violent conflict. A lot of youth in Uganda struggles from post-conflict situation. As young peacebuilders ourselves, we believe that it is crucial to equip young Ugandans with peacebuilding tools, since they are the future of the country.
This summer we will contribute to this goal through a workshop-based program that targets youth community leaders, IDPs and former child soldiers. The workshop aims to train them in Peacebuilding, Conflict Mitigation and Mediation Skills. We hope that through this workshop, the youth of Uganda will be a part of the solution for a peaceful future.
In order for us to make this happen, we will need your support! We are raising money for our travel to Uganda and to undertake the program. The money will be used to pay for our flight tickets, accommodation, and the logistics of the workshops. We will use the money to facilitate the exercises and equip them with the materials needed. We will also provide the participants with meals while they undertake the workshop.
With your support we will be able to reach the youth of the community and make a sustainable impact by contributing to their empowerment!
