Amala Courses For Refugees & Displaced Youth

"We this year entered a partnership with Amala, also co-founded by UWC Alumni to offer Education to Refugee, Displaced and Host Community youth in Kasese, Western Uganda."

-Bright Geofrey Kata (Co-founder)

PROBLEM

Limited access to education, school dropouts and early marriages for youth due to internal displacement  arising from insecurities & natural disasters like the flooding of River Nyamwamba in Kasese, Western Uganda, that's left many youth in Displacement Camps and others forced to move from their homes. Most internally displaced & host Community youth drop out of school before acquiring the necessary skills to get employment, start their own projects in the community, or further their studies in higher institutions of learning.

OUR APPROACH: "EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP WITH AMALA EDUCATION FOR DISPLACED YOUTH"

Identifying and enrolling up-to 50  internally displaced, refugee and host Community youth of ages 16-25 to partake in Amala Programs to develop the necessary Leadership, Social Responsibility, Entrepreneurial & Peace building skills that can help them become change makers in their own communities & across borders.

"Based on the fact that we have an Art Gallery in the making onsite, in Kasese Western Uganda, and wish to have more youth actively engaging in Social Entrepreneurship Projects to foster socio-economic development in the host Community, we would like for our first two Short Courses to be:

1. Social Entrepreneurship
2. Artistic Expression
