Dear Shield of Faith Families, Friends, and Caring Hearts,
Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
We are reaching out to our community and network of caring individuals to help our long time co-worker, friend and parent Llane. Our community was stunned to hear about her sudden diagnosis and we would like to rally around Llane, a woman with a servant heart. Our goal is to raise the funds desperately needed for her ongoing treatment and prayerful recovery.
Her son, Paisley, is an alumni of our school and he reached to us for help. As a young teenager, he is facing the difficult times of having his mom very ill, going in and out of the hospital on the weekly basis.
As you can imagine, he is overwhelmed and even more so, when his mom's medical bills started to arrive in the mail. So, he decided to do something about it and we will like to share below what he wrote to us:
" Dear Shield of Faith School Body:
As you all may know, my mom has been ill for the past three months. A few days before Thanksgiving, my Mom collapsed and she was rushed to the hospital, where they found that her hemoglobin levels were very low, so she was immediately given a massive transfusion (6 units )of blood to bring her back to a safe place.
As I was told, my mom has an AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE that attacks her own hemoglobin and it causes it to drop.
I can't count of how many times she has been in the hospital in the past months to receive more blood transfusions, because, as I said earlier, every time that her hemoglobin drops, she needs a transfusion, and on top of that, every three weeks she must have a blood test to monitor her hemoglobin levels.
Also, while in the hospital, the doctors performed a series of tests. including a CT Scan, when the unexpected came. They found a rare tumor of 17cm. in size in her chest called Thymoma. So now, more detailed scans are necessary to evaluate the tumor and how to treat it so she can get better.
I love my mom very much and I am here by her side and I want to help her to release the burden that she has now. My mom is the only one giving financial support for our family and nowadays she is weak and not able to work as she was use to.
And this is why I am here sharing with you our difficult times. Her medical bills are extremely high and just in these past three months reached over $70,000 and we know that there will be more expenses coming .
She is a warrior and I know that she always wants to show me that she is strong so I don't worry about her and I can keep focusing on my studies. But I am aware that she is worried about what the future may bring for us. So now it is my turn to be strong and comfort her and show her how much I love her.
