<div>What do you do when you learn that one of your tightest and most generous friends has cancer for the second time? Well, you find a way to help!

<div>Here’s the situation. Ed’s Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) has returned and requires treatment once again. The treatment itself is free however, the logistics surrounding it are certainly not. Ed will be forced to stop working, incur the costs of moving from Victoria to Calgary, all while trying to afford the inflated costs of daily living for several months while undergoing treatment. Ed’s current financial situation is strapped after having drained his life savings and going into debt during the first bout of cancer. Ed is no slouch, he had worked hard over the past few years to recover financially but didn’t have enough time to recoup his savings, leaving him without the financial means to support himself while unable to work. Humble is a great word to describe him. He really struggled with the idea of asking for help and so, a bunch of his friends convinced him to start a Go Fund Me. Viola, here we are.

<div>We all know of Ed’s generosity. He’s the kind of guy that will offer to pick you up from the airport, come inside to greet you, help you carry your luggage, and after laughing all the way to his ride your favourite soda awaits. He’s the kind of guy that will make you a seemingly life-saving hot chocolate at 6am after raving all night in the cold September mountains. I’m sure, like these examples, we’ve all experienced his heart and hospitality. He has a way of truly seeing people, paying close attention, looking for the things that they love and, doing what he can to ensure that they manifest. He’s just that kind of a guy.

<div>Ed has made a lot of meaningful and memorable connections with people throughout the years. He’s brought so many of us together and made so many positive things happen along the way. To list everything that he’s influenced would be too much of an undertaking. Friendships have been forged across many area codes, from coast to coast really, but I know that he’d get a kick out to see these ones mentioned: 416 / 403 / 250.

<div>Many of us know him from music culture. He’s been instrumental in forwarding Jungle/Dnb, House, Hip Hop and Reggae sounds. Maybe the names PhatFingers, Dubwash, Ed Nizzam, or Eff’n’Ed ring a bell? Or maybe events like Ed Fest, Sync, Quincy’s, or Soda spark fond memories? Or maybe hazy ones but, whatever the case, smiles and laughter were guaranteed.

<div>If you’ve continued to read this far, then it’s more than likely that you already know Ed well enough to know that he’s a supreme friend, he’s like family, and he’s the kind of guy that you help when necessary.
