Young talented swimmer struggles with diabetes and fights for sports victories!
Anastasia Ishchenko was born on June 7, 2005, in Russia, in the city of Rostov-on-Don. Anastasia began to practice synchronized swimming since 2010. In 2011 she was enrolled in a sports school and acted as a member of a team at international competitions, won prizes in the individual championship, in team performances and in duet.
In 2017, Anastasia received a Candidate Master of Sports of Russia and in the autumn of 2017 she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Anastasia was 12 years old. This is a huge tragedy for her and the whole family, because in Russia people with this disease are isolated from society and social life. The school immediately offered (persistently) to go to home schooling, she was removed from sports and the sports doctor categorically refused to allow access to the pool and sports.
Anastasia worked hard for 7 years of her children's life in a sports school 6 times a week every day, for 4-5 hours and suddenly she was left out of life. Parents desperately fought for her rights during the year, sent letters to all power structures, various parties, ministries, even the administration of the President of the Russian Federation. But no one extended a helping hand, but on the contrary, a terrible and dangerous situation was created for the family and the family was forced to go to the USA 6 months ago.
Now Anastasia lives in Sacramento, she was immediately accepted into the team of synchronized swimming in Sacramento.
She is already successfully performing at regional competitions. In the individual competition and in a duet she has already received gold and silver medals. At the California Regional Competitions, which took place in Sacramento on June 1, she received silver in the compulsory program, silver in solo and gold in the combo group.
Anastasia is called the new synchronized swimming star in Sacramento. A diabetic girl pulls a needle out of her hand and puts insulin aside to speak for the city’s honor, and then begins her struggle with diabetes again.
Anastasia was recently selected for participation in the Junior Olympic Championship, in the city of Tonawanda, NY (https://novasynchro.net/event/2019-us-junior-olympic-championships/2019-07-05 ).
To participate in this Championship, funds in the amount of $ 1,500 are needed, which the family does not yet have, due to the fact that they have only been living in the US for 6 months, their asylum case is still at work and their parents do not yet have permission to work in the United States. But the family works as volunteers. They help the swimming team, volunteer help in their Slavic community.
We ask to respond and support the young talented athlete with a difficult fate.
