Seattle Young Jews for Justice is fundraising for the powerful local organization, Got Green.
Since September, we have been learning about climate justice work and how it intersects with racial justice, indigenous sovereignty, gender justice, mutual aid and beyond. ✊
We also dug into ideas about land, resources and movement-building from a Jewish perspective, examining these themes in our holidays, liturgy and legal texts. ✡️
As Young Jews, we are called to support POC-led climate justice efforts, especially during the crisis of COVID-19.
As a part of our campaign, we are hosting a live and interactive storytelling experience, involving climate justice, community resilience and Jewish mythology. In this “escape-room” style game, you will have to solve puzzles, work on a team and make strategic decisions to battle the acid rain and help save the planet. Got Green organizes for environmental, racial, and economic justice as a South Seattle-based grassroots organization led by people of color and low income people.
In their own words... We cultivate multi-generational community leaders to be central voices in the Green Movement in order to ensure that the benefits of the green movement and green economy (green jobs, healthy food, energy efficient & healthy homes, public transit) reach low income communities and communities of color. Got Green builds community power by waging visionary campaigns that incite community participation (via robust base-building), provides a pipeline of leadership development for directly impacted communities, and engages in direct action. Our three grassroots committees focus of Food Access, Young Leaders, and Climate Justice.
