Young carers -Yorkshire Peaks
Dan and I will be walking the Yorkshire 3 peaks next weekend. Short notice I know but we’re stepping in for a dear friend who’s raising money for young carers.
This is a 26 mile walk to be completed in just one day (next Saturday) and over 1500m in ascent. Bearing in mind our natural habitat generally involves lunch and a lovely cool drink I hope
you’ll understand if ask for you to please be generous on our behalf if not for the charity we’ve chosen!
Here is some information about young carers...
A Young Carer looks after or helps to look after someone in their family with a diagnosed illness, disability, mental health issue, drug or alcohol dependency.
Action for Family Carers works with schools and families across Essex to support Young Carers as young as 5 year old by providing 1-2-1 or group support in school, Young Carers Clubs and appropriate respite.
There are 800,000 Young Carers in the UK that means that 1 in 5 Young people at secondary school are Young Carers.
