Youa Thao-Xiong Medical Fund

This is our friend Youa (Niam Nkiag Pov Xyooj) and her family. Youa is a loving wife to her husband (Pao), nurturing mother to their three children (Nathan, Abigail, and Zackary), and a giving volunteer who enjoys helping others.
In May 2017 Youa was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer and began her fight against it. The first chemo had no effect on the tumors. The worse news was that they also found out that the cancer had spread to other nearby organs. The second chemo ended on November 2nd and the news was also not positive, and yet she fights on. Youa and Pao are consulting with Youa’s doctors about a last possible treatment he can try: Interventional Radiology (Liver Directed Therapy). Her doctor referred her to the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL for other possible treatments if this last therapy also shows no improvement for her.
It's devastating to see what cancer has done to such a vibrant person. We feel so helpless. It's not always easy to know what to do to help in these situations; nor is it easy to ask for help.
Our wish is that by creating this fundraiser, it will help ease some of the worries of how they will pay for the mounting medical bills and other expenses now that Pao is the only one working.
“Life is short and cancer does not discriminate.” Youa urges all of us to make our health and family important priorities in our lives. While we are aware that there is not yet a known cure for this type of cancer, as a parent she cannot help but fight a good fight to be there for her family and keep her faith. She is focusing on staying positive, and cherishing the time she has left with her family and friends.
Thank you so much for helping this wonderful family. Youa's facing a very tough time ahead, and we can help to make it a little easier and less stressful. Every little bit will be helpful.
