You make the difference

After losing her husband eight years ago to cancer, Corne decided not to just let life happen but rather to make it happen. She not only wanted to pursue the goals her and her husband had for their two beautiful kids but really wanted to make a difference in life. As South Africa did not provide work opportunities at that time, she completed her BA Degree in Drama and a further online teaching certificate to take a job in South Korea. It was a big sacrifice for them all, as she had to leave her two teenage kids behind with her sister. After they finished school, they all relocated to Bangkok where Zilla and Jens completed their online teaching certificates and now work for an organisation, teaching English.

Typical to her nature, commitment and dedication to their goal, she completely ignored the signs of her body telling her to slow down. Because she had very limited medical insurance, it was only about four weeks ago when she ended in hospital that she had to admit that something seriously was wrong and at that point informed us of her situation. After some tests in the following weeks she was diagnosed with breast cancer that has spread to the lymph and one rib.

After a PET scan the doctors in Thailand recommended the best for her is to get back to South Africa as soon as possible before starting any form of treatment.
The National medical system in South Africa is very poor and because Corne has not been living there for the last six years she has no medical aid. Private medical treatment is very expensive and this is why we are asking your help.
As her body is extremely weak and she is now in constant pain, her sister Jackie (a medically trained nurse) flew over to escort her back to South Africa. She is now in her care at home where they’ve started basic treatment.
They will see the Doctor on Thursday the 14th September for further recommendation.
