You Can Bike If You Want To -Maria's Bike-a-thon

Tax deductible

2 Years ago, I had an experience that changed my life forever. My life quickly shifted gears after a series of events that led to being diagnosed with MS.

So now, I'm pledging to bike 10km for every $100 donated for RAD. Or 1Km for every $10 ;)  RAD rents out and sell adapted sports gear. Which means more people can keep doing the things they love after disability temporary or permanent. Want to golf? Paddle board? Maybe off road wheel chair? They come at a steep price and though I don't need those adaptions I quickly found myself needing to make some changes at least in the short term.

An E-Bike, which changed my life.

For 1 year as a challenge to myself even after being given the green light to drive again I biked. A good 150km a week on Mitra (The goddess of friendship, integrity, harmony, and all else that is important in the successful maintenance of order in human existence.. naturally). I commuted to work. I went to hike with it when I got stronger. I biked so I could go teach where was not bus-able at a studio I loved. I moved my body taking in the fresh air figuring it out as I went which I firmly believe helped my healing on many levels.

I'm fundraising for RAD, because I want everyone to have access to the adapted tools they need to keep being a badass and living life fully. Which for a lot of us means hiking trials, being on the ocean, and taking to the slopes. It also means staying active in any way we like! The cost of a regular ol' e-bike is pretty high, and if you need mobility modification they are seemingly out of reach. My goal is to raise money to help get the equipment they need to live life with a disability invisible or not  RAD is doing just that on a next level.  They run a rent-program so you can try it and they are just getting started! From Walking assist devices to off road trikes the vision is clear.

SO long story short. Donate $10? That's 1KM.  Each $100 raised is 10km towards me most likely swearing my way through 100km. My goal of $1000 is a 100km Century Ride. I'm not using my e-bike for this one, so the game is onnnn.

UPDATE:
May 16th will be the 100km Ride. Our friends at RAD will be joining me and you will all be able to join the virtual ride. Also all of the funds raised will be going to the Victoria Community specifically for adaptive gear.
May 30th is World MS Day so the rest of the Kilometers raised will be rode then, or between 16th ending on the 30th! I was ending matching on April 1st, but I'll match up to $2000, or 200km.

This is going to be a wild ride.
