In February of this year my mom, Yolanda Zamora, was diagnosed with cancer. Her doctor informed us that she had uterine carcinosarcoma (MMMT). Research shows that less than 5% of the population gets this type of cancer; it is extremely aggressive and works fast. Since it is so rare, only a few studies have been done, and even fewer treatments (if any, we wouldn't know) were known to work on this type of cancer. My mom doesn't like worrying people so we did our best to keep it in the family because she wanted to wait until she got better.
My mom was a wonderful mother, adoring wife, and an amazing friend to many. She put up a fight undergoing a massive surgery, multiple procedures, continued labs, and testing different types of chemo. If you or anyone you know have ever had the pleasure of meeting her, you would know how selfless, kind, and strong she was. She did everything she could to beat this cancer, but God decided he really wanted to be with her.
Today, we are asking for your help to assist on memorial costs. My dad has had to take leave several times because of my mom's illness and already has to worry about her medical expenses. My brother just started a new job but has had to take off work several times to be with my mom. I'm still in graduate school and because I took a leave for the summer, my schedule for the fall makes it impossible for me to hold a job. I am hoping to relieve some of my dad's worries by asking for your assistance. Anything will help, every dollar adds up, and everything is appreciated.
