Yoko’s fight against FIP
Donazione protetta
Hi everyone!
My beloved 7 months old kitten Yoko is since Sunday morning in the ICU fighting Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), more info here .
FIP is a very serious virus and it used to be a death sentence for cats. Thankfully there’s is GS. GS is short for GS-441524 which is an experimental anti-viral drug (nucleoside analog) that has cured cats with FIP in field trials conducted at UC Davis by Dr. Neils Pedersen and his team. See study here
With the help of FIP Warriors, an organization that helps infected cats and their human parents, I was able to get my hands on the drug and I’m able to treat Yoko with and give her a chance at survival.
Yoko is a sweet, sensitive kitten who survived months at one of the worst animal shelters in California and was rescued by The Kitten Nursery Club the day she was scheduled for euthanasia. I only wanted to foster Yoko but I fell in love with her cute little lion cub face and her sweet and cuddly personality. Yoko is small and sweet but she’s also a fighter. Our fight just started and we still have a long way to go. 84 days of treatment, vet visits, blood test, supplements and another 84 days of observation until we know that the the treatment worked.
Please help me pay part of her vet bill (currently at $7252) and the 84 day supply of medication for $2697 (the amount has changed because he dosage has changed).
It’s a lot of money but Yoko is worth every penny.
I appreciate any help.
thank you,
Luana & Yoko
