Yoko's "otosan" Medical Fundraiser

Greetings and Happy New Year! During the aftermath of Super typhoon Yutu, I received the most devastating news that a daughter could receive. My dad informed me that his doctor suspects that he may have prostate cancer due to some abnormal findings in lab tests that were done along with other symptoms. Our dad who is lovingly know as "otosan"  (father in Japanese) to all our friends was also diagnosed shortly later with Meniere's disease of the ear which will eventually cause permanent hearing loss. The day my dad gave me the little paper written by Dr. Elstun, I felt my heart drop when I saw the word cancer on it. I had to muster every bit of strength to not cry at the moment. Dad being the humble person that he is told me "Don't worry about me. If it is my time to go then I accept it. I don't want you guys to be sad just smile and be happy even when I'm gone."I held it together until I got home and that's when I broke down in tears. I was so hurt, I couldn't breathe, I was panicking, I felt like a piece of me died on the inside. Our father's dad had passed from cancer when our dad was in his early 20's. Something that has always haunted our dad. Anyone who knows our family saw that our dad raised us two girls single handedly while running a business without any help. He is our rock and foundation of this family. Everything good we know is from him and we strive to follow in his steps as a morally and ethically sound person. Our dad taught us since childhood that having good character is the most important thing to have in life, more than all the money in the world. Our dad loves our friends like they're all his own kids. He encourages my daughters to be artistic and creative while teaching them how to appreciate the beauty of this world. He wouldn't ask for help from anyone but is always open to offer a helping hand. A hot lunch fundraiser was being planned to assist with the costs of dad's medical trip to Guam for him to undergo an MRI and further cancer testing that is not available on island but due to the short notice we received of his Guam appointment being scheduled for early next week, we are not able to do it in time. Our dad would never ask for help but my sister Jenifer and I see this as an urgent cause. Your donation and prayers for healing are greatly appreciated from all of us who love and care about Otosan!
