Mark's Yoga Teacher Training Fund

6 Years ago, during a time of significant struggle with opiate addiction and alcoholism, I was introduced to the practice of yoga. At the time, I viewed it as simply a way to begin to move the body again, detox, and "stretch". 

From that time my yoga practice has deepened and expanded in ways I never imaged it could. The potent lessons I recieve on the mat such as focus, breathing through difficult situations, patience, and surrender to name a few, carry over into my day to day life. The practice of yoga is an integral component of my recovery and spiritual development. 

Recently, after a considerable amount of meditation and prayer for guidance, it became very clear that sharing what I have learned through my practice with other addicts and alcoholics is the next step of my recovery and service work. 

Yogaville, the Satchidananda Ashram in Buckingham VA offers a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training this April 15th and a Yoga of Recovery Training, June 21st (which incorporates yoga and the 12 steps of AA).

It is my intention to attend both of these trainings to deepen my practice and add more tools to my box to help those who still suffer.

The costs for both courses, before airfare and other epenses, is $4,625. This includes tuition, accomodations, and food. I am putting away what I can towards this cause, but could certainly use some help! Any amount donated is greatly appreciated. And if you are unable to donate do not fret, you are still appreciated! ;)
