Yoga For Health Suffers Huge Loss

My name is Erika Wynn, and I am a Yoga Instructor at Yoga for Health Education. I am reaching out to you to ask for your help in saving our studio on behalf of Libby and Michael Robold.
For 19 years, Yoga for Health Education, LLC (YHE), Center for Conscious Living, has been a yoga, yoga therapy, and healthy lifestyle Education Center at The Village Center in Traverse City, MI.
On May 28, 2020, a bizarre and powerful rainstorm dumped 2.5 inches of water in just two hours, resulting in a cascading mini tidal wave to enter The Village Center. Two studio rooms, a private therapy room, small retail store, two entry spaces, and the office took on enough water to destroy all the specialty flooring. 4,000 square feet were impacted by the storm, of which 3,000 square feet need replacing. Green Bamboo, and a special eco flooring were lost, along with a strong wood laminate in the office and front entry. A number of walls had to be cut out by the remediation unit in order to apply an antimicrobial treatment.
Yoga for Health Education staff and students were slated to return to classes June 22, 2020, but the damage requires reconstruction, and a new, safe flooring . As was the case with so many businesses, YHE had to close the Center for COVID-19 on March 16, so the Center was already having difficulty paying rent due to the long shutdown. Once we are able to replace the flooring, we can open our doors again and bring this vibrant place, boasting 15 devoted teachers & therapists, along with 4 office staff, back to life. Then, YHE can continue to offer a sacred space for people to come to renew and restore, to share in community, and to absorb peaceful quietude.
We are filled with gratitude for the kindness of those who helped sweep the water and sludge from our beautiful space and remove all contents on that tough day. We were overwhelmed when we received many incredible notes and calls encouraging us not to give up and to stay the course to rebuild, to find a way.
YHE’s mission is to teach people new ways to be with their body and mind, as well as to help people thrive, regardless of the stresses of our times. The Center’s style of classical yoga, taught by a highly trained staff, is taught progressively with an established curriculum. We are passionate about our work and will make sure every penny raised will go to the flooring bringing our students home to their classes.
All proceeds will go directly to Libby and Michael Robold, the directors and visionaries behind YHE. These two have fostered and nurtured the studio to make it what it is today, a place of peace and a true treasure in Traverse City, MI.
