Nick Cook's fundraising Marathon for Ynot Apire

Nicholas Cook will be tackling the Marathon des Sables in April to raise funds for Ynot Aspire.
The Marathon takes place over 6 days, with the unbearable sun beating down on runners as they cross the cruel Sahara terrain. The Marathon des Sables has been described as an ‘ultra-marathon’, with courses ranging between 150 and 156 miles.
Race organisers spend up to a month planning the course for the marathon and the routes vary from year to year. The exact route of the course is kept a secret until the day before the event starts, adding to the sense of astonishment and unexpectedness facing participants of the marathon.
By sponsoring Nick, you will be helping us to raise vital funds to enable us to continue providing the range of projects and initiatives that we run for young people in Hyndburn.
We have received 72 referrals to work with young people who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming so in the last 12 months. Our Youth Homeless Worker works tirelessly to ensure that these young people are supported either to remain in the family home or into supported accommodation as well as providing ongoing support to enable them to sustain those choices.
In addition, we also offer a one-to-one mentoring service, run by our amazing volunteers and offering support for a whole range of issues faced by local young people. Alongside of this, we run a range of prevention and early intervention packages in schools promoting positive mental health and wellbeing and have trained up Mental Health Champions in a majority of the secondary schools in Hyndburn (and one pilot primary school) to allow schools to offer peer to peer support for their students.
We would like to wish Nick the best of luck in completing this monumental task and fully appreciate his efforts in raising funds for our charity. We will be cheering Nick all the way over the finishing line in April, our work would not be possible without the commitment and drive of people who strive to make positive changes to the local community
