Support for Josh Caughey

In April 2017 Josh was diagnosed with Anaplastic astrocytoma, a grade 3 glioma (a rare malignant brain tumor), at the age of 35.  During that time, he endured with tremendous strength:

·      Multiple brain surgeries for tumor reduction
·      Proton-beam radiation treatment with concurrent chemo
·      Continued chemo at home
·      Regular observational MRI's

Josh and Audrey were married July 15th, 2017 and celebrated their devotion and life long commitment to each other. Despite the rocky start they continued life and had a son. Josh continued to work for his family business while Audrey continues to teach at the local school.

On December 29th, 2020, the cancer began to grow exponentially despite all the therapies, medications and surgeries he has undergone.

This battle of undergoing constant, exhausting therapies that change  as his cancer gets smarter has had an immense physical and emotional toll. Despite all this he is positive; he fights every step of the way to be present in each moment for his family. He battles this disease to stay here with them and to watch his son grow as long as he can.

To this point, none of these treatments are working to slow or stop the spread of this cancer. Medical bills as well as loss of steady income have taken a financial toll and Josh still faces more rounds of chemotherapy and is a potential candidate for new drugs and trials as they become available.

Currently, Josh is facing many physical and mental side effects due to his diagnosis and treatment. His most prominent symptoms currently very closely mirror that of dementia including:

· Memory problems
· Increased confusion
· Reduced concentration
· Personality and behavior changes
· Apathy, withdrawal and depression
· Loss of ability to do everyday tasks

Due to these very life altering changes in his ability to function on his own it is crucial for Audrey to be at home with him.

While this entire treatment process has been grueling and overwhelming, Josh, his wife Audrey, and their son, Otto, have been dedicated to living a life of love and faith. Josh and Audrey have both fought with tremendous strength.

Our wish is to create a financial buffer to help offset the costs as they arise, so Audrey can say YES to being at home with Josh and their son, and YES to any treatments and medications that become available to him.

So, our ask is simply financial- whatever you feel comfortable donating will be used to help Josh continue to be the loving husband and father he is in battling this disease as well as allowing Audrey to be at home with him.

With great humbleness and gratitude,

The Caughey Family
