Helping My Syrian Family

For those of you who know me and all North American who don’t; I’d like to briefly tell you the story of my current situation. You might find it in your heart to help me…
I was born in Damascus, Syria and moved to Canada 35 years ago looking for a better life in the land of opportunity. I studied to become an engineer, got married to my beautiful Canadian wife and together we have two boys. I am living the dream that I had, Until the war started in Syria… I’m worried about my two sisters and brother. My mom passed away during this war. I feel helpless. I thought I could bring my family here to safety. We heard that the Canadian immigration is allowing private sponsors. We did private sponsoring through our church. It’s a big burden on us at the time, we just want them to be safe. We never thought of anything other than their safety during this hard time. I am sure they will be good citizens; they are educated and are looking for work. My sister is a dentist with a boy and a girl who are newly graduated dentists. My other sister is a pharmacist. My brother and his wife are both english teachers and also have two children. his oldest is in grade 12 and youngest is in the 9th grade. They are living in fear through this war, which has been going on for the last 5 years. The situation is getting worse. I thank the Canadian Government for their efforts in helping Syrian Refugees.
I need your help; anything can help whether it’s $1.00 or $100.00. Every effort is very much appreciated by my entire family. I pray every night for my family; it is not their fault and they are still trapped in this awfully dangerous and miserable situation. I don’t know what to do my family is displaced from their homes, lost their homes and jobs, lost everything they own because of this war…
Now we are trying to collect as much as we can. I could help them settle and start from scratch and am sure they will serve and be good assets to Canada and the Canadian people. I do feel the pressure now. When I sponsored them all I had in mind is their safety. I told myself everything will be alright as long as they are here and safe. In reality it’s a tough burden financially on two Canadians to take care of 8 more people. If you could just put yourself in my shoes for one day you’ll realize how hard it is to provide for 12 people with a 2 person income.
So, I kindly ask, for your help. Thank you for your generosity, you have no idea how much it means to me and my family. God bless!

-My goal is to raise enough money for one year rent and furnish an apartment for 7 people.
