Charlie Pompell’s Medical Fund

On Thursday, November 2nd Charlie Pompell was taken to Spotsylvania Hospital and diagnosed with Necrotizing Fascitis (flesh-eating disease), he was then transferred to Henrico Doctor’s Hospital in Richmond, VA. They immediately took him back for surgery to remove the infected soft tissue.
After 4 hours of surgery on Friday morning the doctors removed a large amount of soft tissue from his left abdominal, thigh, and groin area almost down to the muscle. The infection affected his lung capacity he was put on an assisted breathing machine to allow his lungs to recover. Charlie has been heavily sedated since Friday morning and will continue to be unconscious until they remove the breathing machine, which could be weeks or more.
Let me be clear, This is life threatening in the highest form. His wounds are large and open to allow for healing but will eventually need to be skin grafted much later. Charlie is going to be in the hospital for weeks to months and then to rehab for months after that. This means that he will be out of work and that the family will have to travel to Richmond to visit and support him during this time.
As you all know this long stay and emergency treatment by many specialists to keep Charlie alive is an insurmountable amount of money that they or we as a family just do not have.
There are many of you out there reading this now that know and Love Charlie like we do!!! This page is set up in hopes that Charlie recovers from this devastating event. Anything that you can do from $1 to the highest donation that you can afford will be immensely appreciated. Whatever you can do will help Charlie, Melisa and the girls during this unimaginable time.
