On September 8th, our friend Randy Schepper’s life was changed immeasurably. The automobile accident that claimed the life of his wife, partner and best friend , Julie…has also left Randy with serious, life-altering injuries….which will confine him to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
While Randy’s injuries are devastating, the good news is that Randy is making progress and continues to work hard in a variety of therapy sessions on a daily basis.
After spending the first 5 weeks at Harborview Regional Trauma Center (where a five minute breathing test was a huge achievement) and the past 5 weeks at the University of Washington Medical Center in the acute rehab department (where his tracheotomy was removed last Tuesday) he is preparing for the next step in the “Randy’s Road to Recovery” journey.
At some point in the next month or so, Randy will be relocating to a rehab facility nearer to his family in the Bellingham, Washington area. Randy has several goals as you can see (poster courtesy of two of his granddaughters) with goal number 5… to be back cheering us dog show folks on at ringside sometime soon.... which brings us to the reason for this “Go Fund Me” site.
In order for Randy’s family to transport him to appointments, volunteer opportunities, family events and yes eventually a dog show or two – they will require a wheelchair accessible van. We’ve done the research - new or used, hot rod or basic - and determined vans are expensive and our goal is pretty realistic.
You have all provided great support with your prayers, well wishes, cards and visits – but now we are asking for your help to raise enough funds to offset or purchase outright a wheelchair accessible van.
There are many great causes worth your support and we appreciate your consideration in making this one of them.
