Helping Hal

Donation protected
My brother, Hal, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma , which is a blood cancer that attacks the bone and bone marrow,  in March.  His immune system is severely compromised and is limited to the amount of outside contact as he can become sick very easily.

Hal is under chemotherapy and  will be undergoing an allogenic stem cell transplant.  This is using his own stem cells.  He will be in the hospital for approximately 3-5 weeks where he can be monitored and kept germ free.

If the first transplant goes well, Hal would like to undergo a second transplant.  This would involve a stem cell donor.  While siblings are preferred, my older brother and I were not a match.  Hal's children were not a match either. So the search for a donor is in progress.

While Hal and his wife struggle with the medical and emotional issues that come with Cancer, they are now faced with the financial struggles as they continue to raise their family.  Their oldest daughter is beginning College in the fall, their second daughter is in high school and their son is twelve.

Being that I cannot donate to help Hal with my stem cells, I am trying to help him  in other ways.  Starting this Gofundme account for them is one of those ways.  Any donation that can help cover the expenses that are accuring will hopefully put some of the worry that Hal and his wife are facing and allow Hal to concentrate on his treatment and get well.
