<div>Hi my name is Keira and I am Maximus’s mum, or Mighty Max as we like to call him.

<div>Maximus is 7 years old and has been fighting brain cancer since he was just 10 months old. 
</div>

<div>In just under 7 years he has had 6 brain tumours, 28 doses of chemotherapy, 93 sessions of radiotherapy, numerous surgeries and blood transfusions and developed some life changing conditions due to all of this. 
</div>

<div>He does not know what it is like to live “a normal” life. I am fundraising to try my best to give him this and raise money to try to get him life saving treatment over in Germany as the tumours keep returning and their is no longer anything else that the NHS can do to cure him.

<div>Maximus was diagnosed on 2nd October 2017 at just 10 months old. A day we will never forget! A 6cm tumour in the back of his tiny little brain which was diagnosed as an Ependymoma, at the time we were told that he had a 50% chance of survival and that it would most probably come back. Over the years, as it has come back the chances of survival have gotten much lower.

<div>After years of research and our own personal experiences, we now know that Ependymoma does not typically respond to any known chemotherapy and that radiotherapy and surgery can be effective in only a few patients. However when these tumours reappear there is no effective therapy, and we are just simply buying time. Treatment options have remained unchanged for the past 30 years but quite recently there has been a huge advancement in Immunotherapy to treat cancer.

<div>Immunotherapy induces the immune system to fight against these tumours and the UK have started using it to treat other cancers, but unfortunately it is not available here for the cancer that Max has. Therefore we need to go to Germany where they will be able to use personalised treatment to hopefully save my beautiful, caring and kind little boy.

<div>This advanced treatment is incredibly expensive and on top of treatment costs we will require travel, accommodation and insurance, possibly for a number of years. We cannot simply afford this by ourselves and we are relying on the kindness and generosity of you to help us save Maximus. 
</div>
