Hello, my name is Fran Scuderi. As most of you already know, Hurricane Irma and Maria ripped through the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico causing catostophic damage and destruction to the entire region. And although everyone affected there deserves the assistance and relief that is on the way, I am one person with one island on my heart and mind every day since the hurricanes hit- St. Croix. I've been connected to St. Croix for 33+ years and share the deep love for the island, as so many of us do. It is for that reason that I cannot sit idly by as my Crucian Family suffers through this very slow and trying recovery period. With the support of my wife, I have purchased an airline ticket and will be bringing as many Rubbermaid tubs (5?) as they will allow me to board with. I'm hoping to fill them with items desperately needed there. Your donations will help me aquire solar chargers and lights, rechargable batteries, chainsaw(s), generator, freeze dried food, water purifying tablets, first aid items, etc, etc.
With your donation, I vow to you that I will use this money as wisely and helpfully as I possibly can. Your donation will help offset the costs of supplies , travel costs (extra luggage fees), ground transportation, and most importantly, the people of St. Croix. (As of this writing, I just received 2 calls from friends there needing generator parts!) If I had the financial resources, I would not be making this plea, but I don't. What I do have is the time, knowledge and will to help as many people as I can while I'm there (7days). As a musician, I also hope to do a few benefit shows while I'm there. Look for me aka 'Fran Marnier'. Regarding donations, if you could please donate sooner than later, it would be most helpful. My flight is on October 16th, and I need to aquire these items & supplies ASAP. This effort will continue long after I have returned, just in the form of future deliveries, etc.
It is with a large, sad sigh that I say THANK YOU for your generosity. I will be keeping a tight record of all expenditures, as I do not want or need the tax penalties that may follow this effort. This is NOT INCOME. This is just a one-person mission to help our beloved island of St. Croix, and the people who live there.
