We are a small group of parents, with the common bond of having a child with Autism.
Our children are either non-verbal or have a very limited communication skills. It is a very difficult and heart-breaking struggle not being able to communicate with your child.
We have been relentless in our search to help us develop a breakthrough with our children in order for us to communicate with them. The breakthrough came following our discovery of the educational method Rapid Prompting Method (RPM).
Rapid prompting method(RPM) is a teaching method which has been life changing for our children and our families. RPM is an academic teaching method that can lead to communication for non-verbal persons with Autism and assist people with limited verbal communication.
Realising its benefits and under the guidance of Claire Philbin, RPM teacher/ facilitator , St Senan's Primary School, Enniscorthy Vocational College & Cumas Adult Services New Ross have all brought this teaching method into their facilities and it has enabled our young people to finally announce their intelligence, which until now remained " untapped" .
RPM - was developed by Soma Mukhopadhyay who lives in Austin, Texas, USA. Soma's son Tito was diagnosed with Autism & She developed the RPM technique to teach him. So great was her success that Soma now runs HALO (Helping Autism Through Learning & Outreach). HALO is an non-profit Organisation where Soma conducts one to one RPM education & training.
Soma has openly recognised our commitment to RPM and there is now a rare and precious opportunity to bring Soma to Wexford to work with local children over a Three Day Conference. We are extremely honoured to say that both Soma & her son Tito have agreed to come to Enniscorthy in June 2020.
Soma's visit comes at a cost. While families and professionals are paying to attend the conference with Soma, there are additional running costs. Soma & Tito's flights and accommodation , equipment hire and additional overheads have to be covered.
We would greatly appreciate any financial support you could give.
