Skylers Road To Recovery

Donation protected
Monday September 11th started out like a normal Monday for our family, by 9:00 am that had all changed. I received the call that I knew was coming.   Skyler was found on the floor at work.  He was transferred to ER, Dennis and I met him there, he was mad as hell at me for making  him be brought in. By 10:30 that morning  his BAC (blood alcohol content) was 439.8.  By 11:00 am the decision was made to admit him into ICU, as of this morning Thursday  9/14/17 he is still in ICU.  He has permanent damage to his heart, liver, and brain from alcohol abuse.
He is 27 years old, he was dropped off our insurance at the age of 26, somehow he fell through the cracks with his employer and is not insured. Getting a GO FUND me page has never been anything I have desired to do, I never asked for help when I fought through my battle with cancer, so for me to do this, I had to put my pride aside and try and help my son.  I have been working on getting him into an intense, in-house treatment program. He need a minimum 6 week stay somewhere but at this point in discussion with family we feel he may need longer. He will need a facility that is medical based as well.  It is costly, and when you call and tell these facilites he doesn't have insurance they don't want to work with you unless you can front $5000.00 dollars. I set our goal at $1500.00, it's a  start. Any little bit is going to help. Skyler is now unemployed, he is basically going to have to start his entire life over. We don't know at this point the extent of damage done and we won't until his body can start to get healthy. The last 4 days I have watched him, cry, swear, laugh, say things that don't make sense, convulse, throw up,  look at us like he doesn't know who we are. I do not with this on anyone, I am a recovering alcoholic myself, I went through treatment in 2010. I know we have him on the right path but he has an extremely long road ahead of him.  If you can't donate we understand, but please share this, please say a prayer for our family as this has affected all of us. Good vibes are welcome and  so are hugs.  I plan to update daily on his progress. Much Love-- Deb
