YJED MasterClass Online Clinic Project
Tax deductible
Please consider supporting the Youth Jazz Ensemble of DuPage MasterClass Project.
About the Youth Jazz Ensemble of DuPage (YJED):
YJED is an auditioned honors ensemble founded by current director Robert Blazek in 1998 to provide top high school jazz musicians in 20+ high schools in DuPage County and surrounding areas the opportunity to perform professional-level jazz music literature in concert and in an annual studio recording. Since its founding, YJED members have had the privilege playing for highly prestigious events and with a number of jazz greats. For more information about YJED, please click here to see our website.
YJED is registered with the IRS as a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, and donations are tax deductible.
The MasterClass Online Clinics Project:
In a normal year, YJED fulfills its educational mission through rehearsals, performances, and recordings. Although Covid-19 has put a pause to that, because that educational mission is so important, we are continuing it by having Jazz Masters who professionally perform and teach do online clinics for these students, starting in early November.
We are opening these online clinics not only to our 2019-20 members, but also to high school jazz musicians who would otherwise be eligible to audition and potentially join YJED for the 2020-21 season. And as part of our continuing support of the jazz music programs at the high schools that our members might attend, we are also inviting local high school jazz band directors to take part…so that they might impart some of the wisdom from the these Jazz Masters to their students.
Our first two Master clinicians are recording artists Wycliffe Gordon and Mike Smith. For more information on this project please click here to see our website.
Donations are appreciated by December 2020.
With gratitude from the YJED members
