Friends, AT hikers and AT community,
I am starting this fund raising for Carol 'Rambunny' Barnes. She is not only my friend, but a friend and supporter of the AT and ALDHA. 'Rambunny' is the first woman the do three consecutive thru hikes of the AT in 2000-01 and 02. She is a past hostel operator in Maine and Virginia and has done editing for the ALDHA news letters.
Last week she fell from a ladder and shattered her tibia at the knee. It has been surgically repaired and she is home and doing well. Her companion 'Aqua 2002' has been on dialysis for the last 4 years. He goes in 3 times a week and is on a long waiting list for a kidney. This accident has put her out of work ( 1 full-time and 2 part-time jobs), for at least 12 weeks. Those of you that know her, know the magnificent person she is. She is an angel and an inspiration to all, unconditionally. I didn't really know how much to put as a goal, so the amount is arbitrary. Let's just say that their need is great and all or any help will be appreciated. These are good people who deserve a break and some help. Thank You.
