Help me to hear

Firstly please forgive me for asking for help, its not something I have ever had to do in the past. My name is Leanne I’m a 32 year old single mum to my beautiful 3 year old son. I work as a hairdresser to support myself and my son. I have for some 8 years now had very poor hearing but have managed to cope up to this point. Over the period of the corona virus my hearing has gone down hill rapidly and I’m now unable to hear even a door bell or phone ringing, I’m reliant on my son to let me know if someone is calling me or knocking on the door. My situation has become even worse as everyone I’m working with including clients are wearing face masks, this prevents me being able to use not only my little hearing ability but its taken away my ability to help by lip reading which assisted me. I have had a specialist look into my hearing deterioration and have been advised the the hearing aids available from the NHS are unsuitable for my condition and that I need a set of hearing aids that will fit within my ear instead of over my ears as these will interfere with me wearing a mask and shield for my work in the salon. They have explained that there are private options open to me and the advanced technology being used in these hearing aids will improve my hearing to a much greater degree as they are designed to block out some of the background noise that I work with daily, often there are many hairdryers running and many people holding conversations that prevent me from hearing my own clients. They have given me a pair on trial just for this one week and already I’m hearing sounds I have been unable to hear for years. Now comes the critical issue the cost of these advanced hearing aids are around 4 thousand pounds, money I sadly just don’t have due to reduced working during this Covid Pandemic, Of course I am trying to do as many extra hours as I can to save for these hearing aids but time is of the essence before my hearing deteriorates and I become totally isolated from normal conversations and my work affected.
