<div>Life never happens without having sudden obstacles. The hard fact is that no one can always dodge these obstacles. Sometimes we sneak by, and sometimes they hit us straight in the face.  We, as Americans, are capable of making a difference in people's lives, and here is another chance to help out someone in need.

<div>On November 3rd, 2026, Anna, the mother of 2 adopted boys, left work around 2:30 p.m. feeling nauseous and pain in her lower back. The next morning, she was taken to the emergency room in Monticello, Utah. Later that day, Anna was told she had massive kidney stones in her right kidney and several others in her left kidney. The stone in the right kidney was so massive that it was blocking urine from emptying into the bladder. This then caused an infection.  The infection was so severe that she had to be life-flighted to St. Mary's in Grand Junction. Her husband and children drove up as soon as they could.

<div>The Doctors and specialists there diagnosed that she had an ESBL E. Coli infection. This infection is highly resistant to most antibiotics. As a result, a special type of antibiotic was required.  The infection prevented the stones from being removed due to the infection flooding her body. After a week in the hospital and a stint put into place,  Anna was sent home with a mainline and had to administer her own antibiotics for 11 more days.

<div>Though sent home, the incident was not over. Among all the tests and studies, other medical conditions were discovered, requiring many more trips up to and back from Grand Junction. For the next several months, Anna will need to make approximately 2 trips every month. An approximate 3-hour drive and 200 miles one way. Not to mention missed work and the cost of gas.
