Bucks for Ben

On Sunday, September 20, Michael Gunter, Jr. & Lacey Leeper of Herrin, Illinois, got the devastating news that their 21-month-old son Ben had T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. A treatable but rare form of Leukemia, it starts in the bone marrow and can aggressively spread to other areas of the body.
Since then, they have been two hours from home at St. Louis Children’s Hospital where Ben has undergone chemotherapy, a bone marrow biopsy, spinal tap, platelet and blood transfusions and various other treatments. Ben’s initial treatment is 28 days, and both Mike and Lacey are in St. Louis with him. Follow-up treatment will require almost daily drives to and from St. Louis (apx. $40/trip), time off from work and other unexpected expenses.
Even with insurance, they have a long, expensive road ahead of them. You can be one of “Ben’s Buddies”! Send love, prayers and, if you’re able, a few bucks to help ease the financial burden for this family.
