Help support the first teenager from Lanark County, Ontario, Canada go to the Arctic!
I believe strongly that youth who have opportunities to fulfill dreams become lifelong leaders. My name is Josh Thompson and I have an opportunity to make my dream of going to the Arctic a reality. I have been accepted to participate in a program called Students On Ice.
Students on Ice is an initiative dedicated to taking students on a once in a lifetime educational expedition to the Arctic. The ship-based program takes high school students from around the world to the Polar Regions to gain a deeper understanding of this unique and important part of the world and to educate, inspire, and empower youth to make a difference on a local and global scale. Students on Ice is the only organization in the world which offers an opportunity for students to be immersed in hands on research activities and lectures, taught by Polar experts, scientists, Inuit Elders, artists, musicians, historians, educators, and explorers. About 75 students participate in this singular experience each year and I am hoping to be one of them!
The 2016 Arctic Expedition, which I have been selected for, is a two-week ship based journey from July 22 to August 4. My participation on this expedition depends on being able to raise $8000.
