HELPING HAND FOR HARVEY

Donation protected
The families of Bright Horizons Chelsea are collecting donations of diapers, formula, and lightly used clothing to deliver to families in Houston who have been affected by the devastating floods of Hurricane Harvey.

Every dollar received within this fundraiser will be used towards delivery of the donated goods to the Gallery Furniture Store, in Houston. This furniture store is a 160,000 square foot furniture superstore, owned by a man who goes by “Mattress Mack”, locally known for his generosity within the community. He has closed his store and converted the space into a grass roots shelter for hundreds of Houstonians displaced by the flood waters, along with members of the National Guard. The store has a massive capacity for receiving relief items, and has enlisted hundreds of volunteers to sort through and distribute all items to the families within their shelter, which is currently over capacity. We’re including a link to a story from CNN about this incredible local aid initiative.

Beyond that, every dollar not used for shipping donated goods will be presented to the Hurricane Harvey Children’s Fund, which Bright Horizons will match, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.

** Updated information

Who you are and where you’re from: Chase Weideman-Grant, and I live in New York City.

Your relationship or contact to the parties you're raising funds for: My son attends Bright Horizons Chelsea. He's two years old, and is in the Two's classroom. As parents or individuals who work within the childcare field, the importance of offering support to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey, both monetarily and in the form of physical aid such as diapers, clothing, bottles, formula, is at the very top of our mind right now. Thusly, I've started this GoFundMe to facilitate a quick and streamlined fundraising for our cause.

How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible): Over the last two days, we have been collecting donations at the center from parents (Clothing, diapers, baby shampoo, diaper rash ointment, formula, bottles, stuffed animals, etc.) that we will be packing up and shipping to Gallery Furniture Store in Houston. Gallery is a superstore with a huge showroom that has been converted into a makeshift sheltering, currently housing and feeding displaced families along with the national guard who have been deployed to Houston to help with rescues. This shelter has received national recognition from CBS, CNN, NPR, Time, among many others. The funds needed to ship the physical aid items we have collection through donation (we are anticipating this to be under $250 ) will be withdrawn from the grand total of donations received through my GoFundMe. Every single additional dollar on top of that will be delivered directly to Bright Horizons, who will then match the donation, dollar for dollar and distribute the funds through their Hurricane Harvey Children's Fund.

Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiary/ies: The funds will be withdrawn by the GoFundMe organizer, Chase Weideman-Grant, and delivered directly to Bright Horizons.

Thank you!
