YesUcare: Restoration home for guys

Donation protected
YesUcare is a newly forming nonprofit whose mission is to foster homeless restoration, with a focus on men in addiction.   YesUcare, which is forming out of the ministry of a local church, is working to raise money to buy a house in the Tucson area for men to live in who want to achieve sobriety and restore themselves.  Currently, these men have been living in restored RVs on the church property.  The church, named ‘The Loving Church’ (see a newspaper article for some backstory on the ministry) has been actively serving the homeless in Tucson serving coffee and donuts six days a week.  These times have been the initiating connection for the current men living in the RVs.  Unfortunately, the reason for the gofundme campaign is that the city can no longer allow the men to stay in these RVs on the church property, which has prompted them to look for a place for them to live.  If a house could be purchased in the nearby neighborhood, it would provide safe, warm, and stable living to these men.

Over the years, there have been several men who have experienced deep restoration.  While the church initially focuses on sobriety, the deeper focus in on mental, emotional, and spiritual healing.  Many of the men come from broken homes, and were raised in ways that greatly hurt them.  John* has been a part of the church for about 3 years now.  At that time he was homeless, recently being released from jail for drug trafficking in various states.   While it took more than a year and a half to finally be free of drug use, he has a wonderful life now.  Beyond sobriety, he has overcome many past hurts, and now has a warm, humble diposition.  Dan* was an older man who went on the streets after fleeing from drug dealers.  Rejected by his wife and family, he found the church, and spend more than a year restoring his life.  Now he is reunited with his wife, and their children, and grandchildren.  They regularly serve meals at the church after services.  Lastly, Chris* came to the church addicted to meth.  He could not maintain sobriety despite his best efforts.  After being invited to make a home at the church RV, he continued to struggle, relapsing several times, but always endured and never quit.  He has been sober for a long period of time now, and has found a stable path forward on his journey.  Each of these men now work full time as excellent, dependable employees at local businesses in Tucson.  Several other men have come a long way to find freedom, although most of still on that journey.

The church is hoping and trusting that this campaign will help supplement the other local fundraising efforts.  We are looking to raise $50,000 to pay a significant portion of a house.  While it’s probably the case that we won’t be able to raise that much in a short time, any money that comes in from gofundme will be used to pay down a mortgage. Thanks for taking the time to read about this need!
