Yes, I'm the Photographer Film

Hello! I'm Vonecia, an NYC-based photographer who's passionate about empowering women through visual media. After having the idea for about two years, I decided to step out and create a documentary film highlighting the experiences of women photographers. It was sparked by my personal challenges as it pertained to male dominance in the industry and affirmed by other women I encountered throughout my journey. While the film highlights challenges, it also bears witness to the advantages and power that women contain behind the lens. Ultimately, this film challenges us to rethink our views on the perceptions of woman photographers and work to create a more well-informed industry flowing with more respect, equality and opportunities for woman to thrive, too.

I have been operating as a one-woman band and have already filmed and interviewed 12 women. The funds will be used to help with post-production costs, marketing, and distribution.
