<div>What's the only thing harder than fighting breast cancer? Fighting the health insurance companies and doctors offices that treat you like a number. It took almost 5 months after my diagnosis in October of 2022, to receive treatment from qualified doctors. My insurance tried very hard to force me to be treated by an intestinal surgeon… no joke (but what woman wouldn’t want colon-shaped breasts?). They wouldn’t even cover basic tests like DNA or Oncotype (an Oncotype score is an essential test that determines how aggressive your cancer is and whether you need chemotherapy). So while I’m very grateful we were able to push two good doctors through with my insurance to perform my double mastectomy, and the start of my reconstruction which all took place on February 21, 2023, I’m nowhere near finished with this very difficult journey.

<div>That's where this GoFundMe comes in and is essential to my survival. I’ve had a significant complication that made my recovery and further necessary surgeries impossible without help. I developed what’s called “Post Mastectomy Pain Syndrome” (my body is having a very difficult time adjusting to the nerves in my chest being severed). I’m still in unbearable pain and unable to function normally, work, or care for myself completely. I’m basically stuck at home in a recliner every day trying to manage my pain, which should have ended the first week.

<div>I’ve been having to see specialists such as a pain management doctor to prescribe proper medications and a treatment plan to control the constant excruciating pain. I also see a physical therapist twice a week specializing in Mastectomy and lymphedema in order to increase my mobility and prevent permanent damage that could destroy my quality of life and career. I’m finally stable enough to have completed my chest expander fills so I’ll be able to continue my reconstruction and my 2nd surgery is on the 3rd of January 2024.

<div>It’s a long journey and I may need further surgeries and there are several more doctors I’ll need to see. Unfortunately, my insurance will not cover everything (and is not covering the pain management doctor at all). I’ve been having to pay out of pocket for this crucial treatment and as you can ascertain, I haven’t been able to work for almost a year now (it’s hard enough to function let alone Model or do Photography when I can’t even bathe myself without help). And this next surgery will cause even more pain.

<div>So I’m asking you truly amazing people for help. And I mean this with all sincerity when I say that anything, anything at all that you can afford to give is beyond appreciated, and helps more than you know. You are saving my life, especially my quality of life, and after more than a year of this now, I am absolutely exhausted. I hope that I can not only get through this and past the pain, and even though I’ll never have my actual breasts back, maybe, just maybe, I can feel just a little more normal and be able to work again someday.
