In the past year Yellow Horse has been moving forward in very exciting ways! In April Yellow Horse relocated to Ramrod Farm in Ashaway, RI, where we welcomed many new students, staff and volunteers to our Yellow Horse Family; and brought along our faithful friends of many years. This has proven to be a tremendous opportunity for us! Ramrod farm is over 150 acres which gives us access to miles of trails and an already constructed sensory trail for our participants. We have had the opportunity to grow our herd and we now have 16 amazing horses in our program. We also have use of a beautiful three-bedroom house that has been converted from an old barn for offices, meeting space, fundraisers and community get togethers. This is all thanks to the kind and generous owner of Ramrod Farm who believes strongly in the benefits of equine therapy and who exclusively leases this wonderful property to programs like Yellow Horse. We are truly grateful to Roy for his kindness and generosity.
Yellow Horse is a PATH Intl. Member Center. We are a 501(c) 3 program in operation for over 5 years. We have many expenses and rely heavily on volunteerism and the generosity of donors. As our program continues to grow and we are developing a wait list we are in need even more of donor contributions, grants, and sponsorships. We are looking for your support to continue the benefits of Equine Assisted Therapeutic Activities.
“I have anxiety and depression and horses help me a lot with it. Even on my worst days I still go to the farm because I know that once I get there I will be happy and a lot less anxious. While I am grooming the horses and just spending time with them, I forget about everything and just focus on what I am doing. The horses make me feel better because they feel what you feel and they make sure you're okay and that you feel safe. The horses do not judge you. Horses bring out the best in someone. For the future I hope that my relationship with the horses become stronger. I also hope that I keep riding. I hope some day I can get a job working with horses. Horses mean the world to me! “- Liv (Participant)

“Yellow Horse Therapeutic Riding School has been a great
experience for not only my daughter, Avery, but for the
whole family. We always look forward to Saturdays at the
farm! Not to mention summer camp. Joye, Emily and all of the
wonderful people who donate their time to such an important
cause at Yellow Horse are making a difference. Avery
has gained so much confidence in this positive environment.
From the first ride several years ago at Yellow Horse to
now, her core strengthening, and posture have improved. Also, and just as important, her social skills and focus have improved. To see my child in her element means everything, and that's what Yellow Horse means to me.” -Amy (Parent of Participant)
Our goal at Yellow Horse is to help children, adults, families and communities grow, learn, develop and heal through our equine assisted activities and therapeutic programs. We offer hands on experience, guided educational sessions, and opportunities to have quality interactions with the horse, naturally, regardless of one’s ability or level of skill. We teach and work in partnership with the horses which enables individuals to find confidence, self-esteem, smiles, and, most importantly, a friend.
“My name is Ana and I have 3 children that ride at
Yellow Horse. I have one daughter diagnosed with
ASD, one daughter with Asperger’s and a son with
high energy and difficulty focusing. I have found
that my oldest daughter, Isabel, has come out of her
shell. She is socially relaxed, confident, she smiles, and she just always wants to be at the farm! My middle child, Khloe, is horse crazy. She has learned so much being at Yellow Horse because they challenge her. She has become more alert and aware of her surroundings and really enjoys coming each week to ride. She has a new confidence! My youngest child, Matt, has overcome his fears. When we first started coming Matt wanted nothing to do with riding. He is now excited to ride and requests different horses. Matt loves playing games on the horses, walking over obstacles and going for walks outside. Joye and Emily are very accommodating to the needs of all of my children. This is the best facility; I have brought my children to many other programs and I highly recommend Yellow Horse.” – Ana (Parent of 3 Participants)
