Cancer funding

Hi my name is Christine and I’m a young 57 yo Nannie to my 4 yo granddaughter Olivia.
We live on our own with our pussy cats in Pakenham Vi ctoria.
The start of my story goes back to 5 years ago, when life was good and my friends and I were just enjoying life. My daughter soon changed our lives around by unfortunately mixing with the wrong crowd and getting into the drug scene. I still can’t believe that she ever took that path, because she was always so against it.
The day she told me she thought she was pregnant, was one I’ll always remember as one of mixed feelings.
I was obviously concerned for the welfare of my daughter and also of my unborn grand baby. Luckily for everyone, Olivia Grace was born healthy in 2013.
We decided to move to a new rental in a bigger unit. My trauma started about 7 months after Olivia was born, when her mum disappeared without me knowing where she was.
I was totally distraught and the police took about 10 days to find my daughter, and I finally found out she was doing ice, and brought a new boyfriend home.
The disappearances started to happen for longer periods of
time and my health started to suffer.
At this stage I came down with a nasty dose of shingles and all the while looking after a baby.
I wasn’t sleeping, which is very odd for me. I started to get things like a blocked bowel, bought on by the stress of my daughter and trying to work full time and mind this little toddler, who depended on me for everything.
My family were terrific but it was a really bad time for me. I also had a bullying case happening at work, so I went on stress leave and tried to get some sanity back in my life.
One year ago on the 18th October, I came back from Bali and that night my bowel perforated. I was in excruciating pain but had no one to mind Olivia, or so I thought. After experiencing the pain for a night, I ended up with septasemia and almost didn’t make it.
After spending 14 days in hospital , I was discharged and a ct scan showed I had 2 lumps in my lung which need to be investigated.
I got a referral and within 4-5 weeks I had keyhole surgery to remove lumps. These turned out to be stage 4 carcinoma and turns out they’re quite rare to have in the lung.
My cancer is a neuroendoctrine and the oncologist said they could have by there for quite a while.
After that episode of health concerns I felt life was getting back to some sort of normality, but life had other ideas. I started to get really savage pain in my right side and after months of severe pain I admitted myself to the hospital where I was diagnosed with gallbladder stones. Unfortunately they couldn’t operate because my pancreas was too inflamed, so home I came again. After 2-3 visits to the emergency room I was finally operated on in early September.
I came home 2 days later thinking my pain was over, but I was wrong
again. I attended my appointment to see the oncologist and was admitted to try and find out the source of the pain. After ct scans and X-rays and numerous blood tests, nothing different was found.
I was told a while ago that my type of tumour doesn’t react well to chemo or radiation treatment, so the only treatment suitable is called everolimus which costs $5000 per month unless government funding is awarded.
It’s a lot of money to everyone but because I have my beautiful Olivia to look after, I’m praying that I’ll get the funding.
I’ve never asked for anything before and I don’t think I ever will again.
My daughter is off these horrible drugs and is building a relationship with us.
