Getting a kidney!! Life is Good

My sister Cris was diagnosed years ago with a kidney disease called Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) which affected her kidneys. To explain this disease her bad kidney ate her good kidney until it was depleted. Now the bad kidney is still functioning at 6% but has grown a tumor which they think is cancerous. They removed one kidney and are discussing removing this one because if the cancer gets a chance to spread there will be no chance at a transplant until she tests clean for cancer. She is currently doing dialysis 3 times a week for 4+ hours a session to reduce the liquids her body is holding because of the lack of power her little kidney that could has. Which brings me to why the GoFundMe. Her insurance is excellent and pays for the testing and the surgery for both her and possible donor. It doesn't pay for the travel expenses back and forth for the testing/follow ups at Mayo in Rochester, MN. The tests for both her and the possible donor are a period of 3 days or more. This means hotel stays for those days. The testing is from early a.m. to late p.m. The recovery time for the transplant surgery itself is a varied amount of time depending on how well her and the donor do. The donor will incur leave without pay during the recovery period. There are hotel costs for her family and donor's family while they are in the hospital. She has a possible donor that is making the trips to Rochester next week for the testing to see if tissues are a match and if it's a yes then she can finally move on to a healthier life without pain and fatigue. She is a proud new grandma and has everything to benefit from with the next stage of her journey. She has had to quit her job because of this disease so her income is very limited when it comes to the extra costs. She is a beautiful but humble woman and would never ever ask anyone for help in this manner. Unfortunately, the time has come to ask for help from anyone who would be able to help her with the financial stress this testing and transplant stage are going to take.
