Year 4's Water Walk
Year 4’s legacy for the topic on natural disasters is a sponsored walk for one mile carrying water in a milk carton around the playground. We have been studying droughts and floods and their effects on the landscape and peoples lives. We were all shocked when we found out how many people did not have access to clean water near their home or even have toilet facilities. By walking a mile in somebody else's shoes, will help the children to empathise with other children less fortunate than themselves.
We did some research and discovered that Water Aid is a very good charity for helping remote African villages have access to clean water through either a pump or a well. We decided that all the money raised from our sponsored walk would be donated to them.
