In-Home Care
This is my mother, Rhonda. She is a beautiful, loving, and goofy woman who would make friends with everyone she met, bragging about how she had the “gift of gab” and would talk for hours to different people. She is a kind and caring woman who deserves a lot more than what life has handed her.
When she was young, she was diagnosed with a progressive neurological disorder called Spinocerebellar ataxia, which affects the nervous system. This can affect a person’s coordination, which in turn affects a person's ability to walk and severely impacts a person’s fine motor skills. Since having children, she has completely lost her ability to walk and has been wheelchair-bound for many years.
Her health has rapidly declined in the past few years because of her ataxia. She is now completely bedridden and has lost almost all muscle mass. With this rapid deterioration, she struggles with any independent movement, so much so that she can’t even hold herself up while seated. She requires someone to make and bring all meals to her, assist in showering, and change her undergarments, as she cannot use the restroom.
With her condition, she is in desperate need of care. She is currently wholly reliant on my aunt, who is also wheelchair-bound due to her own neurological condition (MS). She briefly had an in-home care assistant but could not keep her due to the immense cost.
I’m raising funds to help my mother get the in-home care that she badly needs. All funds will be used to retain an in-home assistant and physical therapy to help regain her muscle mass. These funds will also go towards basic necessities like toiletries and food. Anything you provide will greatly help my mom, and she would be incredibly grateful. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this so more people can be aware of my mother’s situation and maybe provide some help. Thank you so much for taking the time and consideration for even reading this page; we sincerely appreciate it!
