Nolan is getting a service dog, but we need your help! Our silly, goofy 13 year old Nolan has had multiple diagnoses throughout the years.  Although he may come across as having absolutely no difficulties, inside Nolan's brain he is working extra hard to navigate multiple social situations due symptoms of autism, OCD, and anxiety. Those rules of society do not come easy to him and he sometimes has difficulties making and keeping friends, navigating conversations, and keeping on task and organized.   More recently he has started refusing school because of the anxiety of trying to figure out the social interactions at school.   He wants to be everyone's friend and is disappointment in himself when he does something to hurt a potential friendship.  He also wants to be successful in activities that he chooses to do, including computers, science, and swimming.  Unfortunately when he is not as successful as he would like to be, he gets disappointed with himself.   Nolan regularly is confused, anxious, and sad inside while he is smiling on the outside.  Recently, we have linked Nolan with a wonderful service dog organization located in Palatine that will help Nolan in reducing his anxiety, sadness, decreasing repetitive behaviors, and provide him social boundaries while in public.   

Nolan loves dogs and our Piper (7 year old rescue - beagle mix) has provided him a significant amount of emotional support since her rescue. But Piper is not allowed to travel everywhere with Nolan.  Piper also is not very fond of cars and would prefer to be with Nolan at home.  With your help and the help of A Closer Bond, we would like to introduce another doggy friend to Nolan.  If you are able to provide any assistance, we would greatly appreciate your help.  Thank you, Nolan, Tina, and Brian Lowry
