Anthony i need helps mental support

Anthony is an 11 year old sweet boy who started 6th grade this year. Although he is a very special and smart kid, he was diagnosed with Asperger’s. As some of you may already know, Asperger’s is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, including restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It is different from other autism spectrum disorders in that it relatively preserves linguistic and cognitive development, making it difficult for outsiders to deduce that there is in fact a disorder present. Because of this type of autism, his experience in 5th grade was the most tragic situation for him. Not only did other students misunderstand him, but worse, he was constantly a victim of bullying. This abuse led to a detrimental state of mind for him, one he had never experienced and could not come to understand himself. Anthony is the most imaginative, easy-going, and loving child. He adores drawing and tell stories with those drawings, much like a comic artist. He creates his own worlds and lives in them willingly and happily, but one world he cannot survive in is the world that others have enclosed him in and force him to live in at school. It was such a toxic environment that Anthony was driven to the point of trying to take his own life. As anyone can imagine, my world almost ended right along with his. He was hospitalized for 5 days and was able later to come home with us.  His universe flipped and would never be the same, he had to see a psychiatrist on a weekly basis, as well as therapist in order to help him on his way to recovery from his dark and negative emotional state. Because of all that has happened and his full schedule being in and out of doctors, he was forced to finish his last school period at home. No doubt, a healthier environment than school, but not a complete or fulfilling one. He has not, nor will be the same happy, beautiful, creative boy that I always got to enjoy. He is now somber and down all the time.  This is not the kind of life I pictured my son living and certainly not the life any children anywhere should live.

It would be extremely dangerous for Anthony to attend a regular school again, and the only remedy that makes sense to us as a family who wants to remain complete is to send Anthony to a school that caters to children diagnosed with Asperger’s and other such conditions that require another kind of attention. New Horizon School specialized in children with autism and offers psychological and psychiatric sessions, while allowing him to interact with children on his level who understand, do not judge, and welcome him with warmth and open arms.  This way, he can have the kind of life that a child should have, with friends and happy again. We cannot afford this on our own, so we are desperately asking for anyone and everyone who can to contribute to helping us raise these funds. It is essential for us to get him the proper help and care. He cannot afford another episode such as the one that has happened.

Thank you for all your help and for talking the time to read this and care! We are most appreciative.
